WHOOP 5.0 and MG Review UK 2026

WHOOP is a screenless band sold as a membership. The Amazon UK listings checked on 26 October 2026 are 12-month memberships with the device included, not a standalone gadget price. WHOOP One on the 5.0 hardware, ASIN B0DY2VVZWZ, was £169.00. WHOOP Peak on the 5.0, B0DY2SWV16, was £229.00. WHOOP Life, which includes the MG hardware, B0DY2PB7RB, was £349.00. All three were in stock. The seller is WHOOP Authorized.

AIToys.co.uk selects and researches this page from WHOOP's product and support pages, WHOOP's feature-availability list, and those Amazon listings. It is not a first-hand wear. There is no score. Screenless alternatives that are not a compulsory annual fee are the Google Fitbit Air review and the Garmin CIRQA review.

It suits someone who wants recovery, strain and sleep coaching and will pay every year. It is a weak fit if you want to pay once, if you want a screen, or if you are comparing the £229 figure with a £229 watch and forgetting that WHOOP's figure is a year of service.

How the price works

WHOOP does not, on these listings, sell the band as a finished purchase. The title of each ASIN is a 12-month membership. The band arrives because the membership includes it. One, Peak and Life are tiers. The hardware split that matters is 5.0 on One and Peak, and MG on Life.

LifeB0DY2PB7RBMG£349The MG band, with the Life feature set including ECG and blood pressure insights

Price correct as of 26 October 2026. Stock can change. Do not buy third-party "compatible" straps or fake bands from other brands. They are not a WHOOP membership and they will not unlock the app.

Healthspan and WHOOP Age, where the app shows them, are wellness estimates built from WHOOP's own model. They are not a biological age from a lab, and they are not a medical result. Read them as a score inside a subscription, then ignore them if they make you anxious without telling you anything you can act on.

When the 12 months end, the Amazon listing has done its job. What you can still see, and whether the band keeps syncing, is in WHOOP's membership terms at renewal. This page does not quote a grace period it has not read off a contract dated today. Before you buy, read the renewal and cancellation terms in the account flow. Assume you will be offered another year, and decide whether a second £229, or whatever the tier costs then, is acceptable. That is the honest comparison with a watch you keep using after the warranty year.

The AI coach

WHOOP launched a conversational coach in September 2023 and described it as powered by GPT-4. Current listings shorten that to a line in the style of "WHOOP AI acts as your personal coach". The coach answers from your WHOOP data: sleep, strain, recovery and the journal prompts you fill in. It is a chatbot over your metrics, not a person, and not a clinician.

WHOOP's settings include a control to turn the coach off. Use it if you do not want journal text and biometrics feeding a model. The rest of the membership can still show scores. The coach is not required to wear the band.

Answers are general wellness information, not medical advice. A model can misread a hard week, invent a neat story, or push training when you are ill. WHOOP's own materials tell members the product is not a doctor. If you are changing medication, returning from injury, or pregnant, the conversation that matters is with your GP or midwife. The coach can make mistakes. That is normal for this class of feature, and it is a reason to keep the off switch in mind.

Video: VPNpro (6:56). Spoken English. Not filmed by AIToys. A longer creator diary exists. This page uses the shorter overview so the title is not a health claim.

ECG and blood pressure insights on WHOOP MG

These two features are Life features on the MG band. Peak's 5.0 listing does not include them.

ECG. WHOOP's feature-availability page lists the United Kingdom among regions where the ECG feature is offered, and it says availability depends on regulatory approval in each country. WHOOP's community guidance says the ECG needs the Life membership and the MG hardware. WHOOP's US pages describe a Heart Screener and cite FDA clearance for that US product. FDA clearance is a US status. This page does not translate it into a UKCA or CE certificate number, because WHOOP's UK-facing availability list is the document that names the United Kingdom, and it does not print a certificate on that page. Check the list again when you set the band up: WHOOP feature availability. Irregular rhythm notifications are a separate list. This page does not claim they are on for the UK, because that section was not confirmed in full. Open the page and look for the United Kingdom under that heading yourself.

An on-demand ECG, where it is available, is a rhythm check. It is not a heart-attack detector and not a reason to change treatment. WHOOP's age and contraindication rules, including pacemakers where WHOOP lists them, belong in the in-app consent. Read them.

Blood pressure insights are different. WHOOP describes a daily estimate of systolic and diastolic range from overnight sensor data, after you log a cuff reading to calibrate. WHOOP says the feature is in beta, that your true value may sit outside the range, and that it estimates once a day. On WHOOP's own blood pressure page, the feature is not a medical device, cannot diagnose or manage a condition, and is not medical advice. Do not call it a cuff. The Huawei Watch D3 is the watch on this site whose maker states a CE-MDR blood pressure certification. WHOOP's estimate is the wellness feature. If the numbers worry you, take a proper cuff reading and speak to your GP. Do not change blood pressure medication from the app.

A year of WHOOP against other screenless bands

Peak for one year costs more than a Fitbit Air plus a year of Google Health Premium, and more than a CIRQA with no fee. Life costs more again. The thing you are buying is WHOOP's strain, recovery and sleep model, plus the coach. If you will not open the app, the fee is hard to justify. The Oura Ring 5 review is the finger-worn version of a similar argument.

Battery and wear

The Peak title quotes 14-plus days of battery. That is WHOOP's figure for a screenless sensor, not a watch that lights a display all day. There is nothing to read on the wrist. Recovery and strain appear in the app after sync.

This page does not quote a water-resistance depth. Check WHOOP's current spec before you swim or shower with it. A creator video is not a warranty.

The band needs skin contact to collect heart rate and HRV. WHOOP sells official bands and apparel for different sports. Buy those from WHOOP's own listings if you need another strap. Unofficial bands are outside this page.

Account, data and privacy

A WHOOP membership account is required. The band is not a local-only logger. Heart rate, HRV, sleep, skin temperature, blood oxygen and strain scores are processed in WHOOP's cloud. That is the product. If you do not want continuous biometric data on someone else's servers, WHOOP is the wrong membership.

The AI coach can use journal entries as well as the sensor history. Journals are often the most sensitive text in the app: illness, alcohol, mood, pregnancy. Turn the coach off in settings if you log those notes and do not want them in a prompt. Read WHOOP's privacy notice for retention and deletion, and use the in-app delete tools before you close the account. Cancelling a card payment is not the same as deleting the history.

The UK smart device privacy guide covers unique passwords and recovery addresses. Use them. The account is also the billing relationship for the year after this one.

AI guidance is general wellness information, not medical advice. It can be wrong even when the underlying heart-rate file is fine.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • The price is an honest 12-month membership with the band included, if you read the title.
  • Peak at £229 is the mid tier on 5.0 hardware, with the coaching and healthspan line on the listing.
  • ECG is listed by WHOOP for the United Kingdom on MG with Life. Check the live availability page.
  • The coach can be switched off.
  • 14-plus days of battery, on the listing, and no screen to charge every night.

Cons

  • You are not buying the band outright. Renewal is a second decision at the end of the year.
  • ECG and blood pressure insights need Life at £349, not Peak.
  • Blood pressure insights are a wellness estimate after cuff calibration. WHOOP says they are not a medical device.
  • Cloud biometrics and an optional coach that can read the journal.
  • Seller is WHOOP Authorized, so Amazon's own returns process may differ from a product sold by Amazon. Read the listing.

FAQ

Can I buy a WHOOP outright in the UK?

Not on the listings this page uses. Amazon UK shows 12-month memberships with the device included, from a WHOOP Authorized seller, at £169, £229 and £349 on 26 October 2026. Price correct as of 26 October 2026.

What happens when the membership ends?

You are in WHOOP's renewal terms, not in a watch you have finished paying for. Read the current cancellation and data-retention terms in the account before the year ends. This page does not promise a set of features that survive unpaid.

Is WHOOP waterproof?

Check WHOOP's current water-resistance rating on the membership you buy. This page does not quote a depth it has not confirmed on that spec.

Is the blood pressure feature medical?

WHOOP says Blood Pressure Insights are not a medical device and not medical advice. They need a cuff calibration and they estimate a daily range. Do not change treatment from them. The ECG is a separate feature, listed by WHOOP for the UK on Life with MG hardware. Confirm it in the app.

Is the coach included?

The listings describe personalised coaching on the membership. The GPT-4 coach WHOOP announced in 2023 is the AI layer, and WHOOP lets you turn it off. It is not a doctor, and it can be wrong.

What should I compare it with?

The Fitbit Air if you want a lower cash price, the CIRQA if you want core metrics without a fee, and the Oura Ring 5 if you want a ring and will pay a smaller monthly fee. The smartwatch shortlist is the wrist-screen set.
