Huawei Watch D3 Review UK 2026

The Huawei Watch D3 is a smartwatch with an inflatable airbag in the strap. Huawei's UK product page describes single blood pressure readings, a 24-hour ambulatory plan, and pre- and post-exercise checks, and it states that the watch is CE-MDR certified as a medical device. On Amazon UK on 26 October 2026 the Black model, ASIN B0HCMLZWHP, was in stock at £369.00, sold by Amazon.

AIToys.co.uk selects and researches this page from Huawei's UK product page, Huawei's support notes, and the live Amazon UK listings. It is not a first-hand wear. There is no score. It suits a wrist between 13.0 and 21.0 cm if you want blood pressure logs for a GP. It is a weak fit if you swim with a watch on, if you need a week of battery with ambulatory monitoring, or if you need a standard Google Play install.

How the blood pressure cuff works

This is not an optical estimate. Huawei's UK page says the strap uses the oscillometric method: a mechanical airbag and a pressure sensor, with Huawei's TruSense system. Posture still changes the result.

For a single reading, Huawei says to keep the wrist extended, stay quiet, hold the watch level with your heart, support the elbow, put both feet flat, and avoid pressing the airbag. The watch must be dry. Wipe it after rain or a workout before you measure, or water can stop the airbag deflating.

Strap size is part of the measurement. Huawei lists an M strap at 13.0 to 16.0 cm and an L strap at 16.1 to 21.0 cm. Outside 13.0 to 21.0 cm, Huawei says the blood pressure measurement may be affected. Measure the wrist you will wear before you order.

What is medically certified, and what is not

Huawei's UK page places CE-MDR certified as a medical device with the blood pressure block: single measurements, 24-hour ambulatory monitoring, and pre- and post-exercise checks. The 31 August 2026 press release describes that same scope. It is not a claim about every other tile on the watch.

Huawei's warnings, from the UK page: do not diagnose yourself, treat yourself, or change medication from the readings. Consult your doctor. The device is not validated for newborn babies or pregnancy, including pre-eclampsia, and it is not for emergency care. Ask a doctor first if you have an arrhythmia, diabetes or kidney disease, or if the arm has had a mastectomy, a drip or a catheter. Huawei says those situations can affect the reading or restrict blood flow.

The same page marks other features not intended for medical use: all-round health management, blood pressure trends with sleep and workouts, Health Glance, sleep and emotional wellbeing. PPG atrial fibrillation alerts and the ECG app are reference only, and only in certain markets.

Huawei's ECG country list includes the United Kingdom among markets where medical certification is required, and a Huawei product list for that feature names the Watch D3. The watch page still says availability varies. After setup, confirm the ECG app is present. Huawei's instructions say it records a single-lead trace, classifies sinus rhythm or atrial fibrillation, and is for ages 18 and over. It cannot check for a heart attack. Do not use it to change medication, or with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator.

24-hour ambulatory monitoring

Huawei describes a 24-hour auto-monitoring plan, including measurements while you sleep. Asleep, it inflates without a set posture. Awake, the rules still apply: extended wrist, quiet, watch at heart level, elbow supported, airbag not pressed.

The report Huawei describes includes average systolic and diastolic values for the day, the night and the full 24 hours, plus pulse rate, which you can generate in Huawei Health for a GP. Huawei cites European Society of Hypertension guidance: readings about every 15 to 30 minutes, at least 70% successful, including 20 daytime and 7 night-time. That is a standard Huawei points at, not a promise every night will meet it.

Battery is the limit. Huawei's lab note says up to six days of typical use, and up to one day with ambulatory monitoring on at 15-minute intervals. Typical use in that note already includes several blood pressure and ECG checks, always-on heart rate, sleep tracking and notifications. With the 24-hour plan on, charge daily. The charger is USB-C.

Pre- and post-exercise checks cover outdoor and indoor running, walking and cycling, on Huawei's page, with an alert if the pre-exercise reading is high and a check within two minutes afterwards. They sit in the certified blood pressure scope Huawei describes. They are not a reason to ignore chest pain.

Health Glance, readiness and the AI-style insights

Beside the cuff, Huawei groups a set of wellness tools under all-round intelligent health management. The UK page lists sleep tracking, ECG, heart rate variability and a Physical Readiness score, and it marks part of that block as arriving by a software update.

Health Glance is the short combined report. Huawei says it covers 11 items, including heart rate variability and an emotional metric. The footnote says it is only in certain markets and is not intended for medical use. Emotional wellbeing shows one of 12 emotions and is off during sleep or exercise. TruSleep 5.0 is the sleep staging view, also marked not for medical use.

The trend view that lines blood pressure up with sleep and workouts arrives by update, and Huawei says it is not for medical use. Read it as a diary beside the cuff numbers. There is no named chatbot on the UK page in the style of Gemini or Oura Advisor. Any coaching text is general wellness information, not medical advice, and it can be a poor summary of the file. If a score worries you, speak to a clinician.

Other tools on the page: more than 100 workout modes, Bluetooth calling, calendar, notes, a torch, and NFC payments through Curve Pay. Some modes arrive by update. Calling needs the phone nearby.

Huawei Watch D3 versus Watch D2

The older Watch D2 was still listed the same day: ASIN B0DJH2LQ1T, £356.74, sold by Amazon, only 1 left. If it has gone, do not buy a third-party substitute from this page.

Huawei's lab comparison puts the D3 at 11.3 mm, 15% thinner and 9% lighter than the D2, with a strap 7.5 g lighter and a narrower airbag. The screen is a 1.92 inch AMOLED, 6.4% more screen-to-body than the D2, peaking at 3,000 nits in Huawei's lab. Those percentages are Huawei's measurements.

The D2 is the previous cuff watch: a few pounds less that day, one unit left, and without the thinner case. Huawei's launch RRP for the D3 was £399.99. The Amazon figures are for 26 October 2026.

A home upper-arm cuff is still what many GPs expect. The D3's case is a cuff that can run a 24-hour plan, including overnight, against a one-day battery and a strap that comes off in water. This page does not link unbranded "blood pressure watches". If the listing is not the D3 or D2 above, it is a different product.

App, account and privacy

Pairing needs the Huawei Health app on Android 9 or iOS 13 or later. On an iPhone, use the App Store. On Android, follow Huawei's UK Watch D3 page. Do not assume Google Play is the path Huawei documents.

Huawei's precautions say that, by default, the device runs in the background and automatically uploads related logs. Health data and the account are required for the reports.

Health Community can send real-time alerts and let linked people see blood pressure, Health Glance, heart rate, steps and sleep. Huawei marks it as a software update. If you do not want relatives to see blood pressure as it updates, do not join one, and check who is already linked.

Huawei includes three months of Huawei Health+, claimed in the app: workouts, meditations, a stay-fit plan, sleep music and breathing exercises. It is a content trial, not a medical service.

Deletion sits in the Huawei account. Read Huawei's privacy notice, and use the UK smart device privacy guide for a unique password and two-factor sign-in.

Water, wear and battery

Remove the D3 before swimming, snorkelling, diving, hot showers and saunas. Keep it away from shampoo, sunscreen and sanitiser. Liquid damage from those uses is not covered by warranty. If the strap does not deflate, take it off. Prolonged wear can irritate skin. The Black strap is HNBR. Mocha Gold and Gold use composite leather, on Huawei's notes. The battery is not user-replaceable.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • A physical airbag cuff using the oscillometric method, described on Huawei's UK page, rather than an optical blood pressure estimate.
  • Huawei states CE-MDR certification as a medical device for the blood pressure measurements, including single checks, 24-hour ambulatory monitoring and pre- and post-exercise checks.
  • 11.3 mm thick. Huawei's lab comparison says 15% thinner and 9% lighter than the Watch D2, with a narrower airbag.
  • iPhone and Android, Bluetooth calling, and Curve Pay, on Huawei's feature list.
  • ECG and PPG atrial fibrillation alerts are on the product page, with market limits. The Black listing was in stock at £369.00 from Amazon. Price correct as of 26 October 2026.

Cons

  • About one day of battery with ambulatory monitoring on, against up to six days of typical use, in Huawei's lab note.
  • Off for swimming, showers and saunas. Liquid damage is outside the warranty, on Huawei's warning.
  • Wrist must be 13.0 to 21.0 cm, or Huawei says the blood pressure measurement may be affected.
  • Health Glance, sleep, emotions and trend insights are not for medical use. ECG and atrial fibrillation alerts are reference only and vary by market.
  • Android setup is through Huawei's own install path. Launch RRP was £399.99, which is a lot next to a standalone upper-arm cuff if all you want is a number for the GP.

FAQ

Is the Huawei Watch D3 a medical device?

Huawei's UK page says it is CE-MDR certified as a medical device, in the section that covers single blood pressure readings, 24-hour ambulatory monitoring, and pre- and post-exercise measurements. Huawei separately says Health Glance, sleep, emotional wellbeing and blood pressure trend insights are not intended for medical use. Do not change medication from any reading. Speak to your GP.

Does Huawei publish an accuracy figure on this page?

No figure from this site. Huawei describes an oscillometric airbag and says posture, wrist size, movement, and conditions such as arrhythmia or diabetes may affect the result. A named reviewer may publish their own comparison. That is their finding. For treatment, use the monitor your GP recommends.

Does the Huawei Watch D3 work with an iPhone?

Huawei says yes, with iOS 13 or later and the Huawei Health app. Android 9 or later is the other path. Confirm the app installs on your phone before you rely on reports or family sharing.

How does the D3 compare with the Watch D2?

The D3 is the current model. Huawei says it is 15% thinner and 9% lighter than the D2, at 11.3 mm, with a narrower airbag and a 1.92 inch display. On 26 October 2026 the D2 listing was £356.74 with only one left, and the D3 Black was £369.00. Price correct as of 26 October 2026.

Can I swim with the Huawei Watch D3?

Huawei says no. Remove it for swimming, showers, saunas and other prolonged or high-pressure water exposure. Liquid damage from those uses is not covered by warranty.
