The Garmin Venu 4 is Garmin's AMOLED health and fitness watch, in 41 mm and 45 mm. The Amazon UK title for the 45 mm Black model lists an AMOLED touchscreen, 24/7 wellness tools, 80-plus sports apps, a flashlight, an ECG app, sleep tracking and up to 12 days of battery. On 26 October 2026 that listing, ASIN B0FRG18TLS, was in stock at £348.32, sold by Amazon. The 41 mm Bone, B0FRGDGRXY, was £373.00.
AIToys.co.uk selects and researches this page from Garmin's press material, the Venu manual's Connect+ page, UK reporting on Connect+, and the Amazon listings. It is not a first-hand wear. There is no score. The site's smartwatch shortlist still discusses the previous Venu generation: best AI smartwatches and fitness trackers UK 2026. This page is the Venu 4 note.

It suits someone who wants a bright watch, a week or more away from the charger, and Garmin's training and sleep tools without a fee on day one. It is a weak fit if you want an iPhone-only health app, a cuff blood pressure measurement, or an AI coach that is included in the box price.
What is new against the Venu 3
The Venu line is Garmin's health-first AMOLED watch, rather than a mapping fenix or a running-first Forerunner. The Venu 4 listing adds the generation's flashlight and the ECG app to the usual set: sleep score and sleep coaching, all-day heart rate, and a large sports list. Garmin's battery quotes on the listing are up to 12 days for the 45 mm and up to 10 days for the 41 mm. Those are Garmin's figures under Garmin's test pattern. Always-on display, music and GPS workouts shorten them. A running watch such as the Garmin Forerunner 55 is a different tool: cheaper, aimed at runs, and without this AMOLED health screen.
Case material on Garmin's Venu 4 descriptions is stainless steel, with silicone or other straps depending on the finish. The 45 mm is the larger reader and the longer quoted battery. The 41 mm is the smaller wrist. On 26 October 2026 the smaller Bone finish cost more than the 45 mm Black, so "smaller" was not "cheaper" that day. Check both listings. This page does not use third-party colourways that were not sold by Amazon.
Sleep tools are part of the free Garmin Connect set: a sleep score and coaching notes based on the stages and physiology Garmin records. Garmin has published its own descriptions of what the score uses. This page does not repeat an accuracy percentage. If you want a named reviewer walking through nights of data, the DesFit video below is one such report. It is not a result from AIToys.
Health features and the ECG app
Use the watch for training load, heart rate, sleep and the recovery-style scores Garmin includes in Connect. Those are wellness and fitness tools. They are not a diagnosis, and this page does not call the Venu 4 a medical device.
The ECG app is on the Amazon title. Garmin publishes regulatory wording in the watch manual, and that wording is the one that matters for the UK. Read it before you record a trace. A single-lead style ECG, where a manufacturer offers it, is a rhythm snapshot you can show a clinician. It is not a check for a heart attack, and it is not a reason to start or stop a medicine. If you have chest pain, breathlessness or fainting, use emergency care, not a watch menu.
Garmin's health pages also describe blood oxygen, stress and women's health tracking on compatible watches. Availability and the exact sensor list vary by model and software. Confirm the icons on your watch after the first sync rather than assuming every Venu marketing tile is in the UK build you received.
A cuff blood pressure measurement is a different product. The Huawei Watch D3 review covers the watch Huawei describes as CE-MDR certified for blood pressure. The Venu 4 listing checked for this page does not claim that.

Connect+ and Active Intelligence
Garmin Connect is the phone app. The core of it, including the features Garmin says were free when Connect+ launched, stays free. Garmin's chief executive has repeated that commitment in earnings comments reported by the UK press. You can record activities, see sleep, and follow the built-in Garmin Coach plans without a subscription.
Garmin Connect+ is the optional tier. Garmin's manual describes Active Intelligence as AI insights about your data and activities. Garmin's own blog says the insights are personalised and adjust as the app learns your activities. The March 2025 launch, as reported by the5krunner, also included a performance dashboard, live indoor activity on the phone, extra LiveTrack options, more Coach content, and badges. Later additions reported in 2026 include nutrition logging and trail tools. The manual page for Connect+ is the feature list to trust if a blog and the app disagree: Garmin's Connect+ manual topic.
The UK price is not printed on the watch box. the5krunner, in April 2026, put Connect+ at £6.99 a month or £69.99 a year, with a trial for new users. TechRadar has quoted the same pair. That is published reporting, not a checkout this site completed on 26 October 2026. Open Garmin Connect and read the price before you subscribe. A year at £69.99 is a real addition to a £348 watch. Over two years it is about £140 if the annual price holds.
Active Intelligence reads the health, activity and nutrition data you have logged, on Garmin's description. It can misread a week. Treat the sentences as general wellness information, not medical advice. If you do not want an AI layer, do not subscribe. The watch does not brick.
The same Connect+ tier is what the screenless Garmin CIRQA uses for its optional insights. Buying a Venu 4 does not force you onto that band, and buying a CIRQA does not give you this screen.
Battery
Twelve days and ten days are the headlines on the listing. Garmin's usual pattern for these quotes assumes a defined mix of watch checks, notifications and GPS, not the display forced always on with music stored on the watch. Use the quote to compare with other Garmins, then expect a shorter gap once you turn the bright extras on.
The practical contrast is with watches that need a nightly charge. The Apple Watch Series 12 is in a different battery class on Apple's own 24-hour test description. The Samsung Galaxy Watch9 is a Wear OS watch with a phone screen's worth of apps and a shorter expectation. If the charger lives in a drawer for a week, the Venu quote is the reason it is on this shortlist. If you want apps and a cellular plan, it is not.
The built-in flashlight is a small hardware point the listing calls out. It is useful on a lane or a path. It is not a bike light.

| Garmin Venu 4 | Apple Watch Series 12 | Samsung Galaxy Watch9 | |
| Example price | £348.32 (45 mm Black) | £332.10 (42 mm GPS Black) | £349.00 (40 mm Graphite) |
| Phone | Android or iPhone, via Garmin Connect | iPhone only | Android. Not iPhone, on Samsung's UK page |
| AI layer | Connect+ Active Intelligence, optional | Workout Buddy and Apple Intelligence | Gemini Raise to Talk |
| Fee for the AI | Connect+ if you want it | No separate Garmin-style fee. Needs an Apple Intelligence iPhone | Gemini needs a Google account. Check replies |
| Battery headline | Up to 12 days (45 mm listing) | Apple's lab pattern is a day, not a week | Samsung quotes a larger battery than Watch8, not a week |
| Screen | AMOLED | Always-on capable Apple display | AMOLED, Samsung cites up to 3,000 nits |
None of these is a medical device by default. The Venu's advantage in this table is battery and a free core app. The Apple and Samsung watches do more as wrist computers, and they lock you to a phone family. Samsung's UK page says Galaxy Watch9 does not pair with iPhone.
Account, data and privacy
You need a Garmin Connect account. Activities, heart rate, sleep and location during GPS workouts upload when the phone syncs. That history is what Active Intelligence reads if you subscribe. Nutrition logs, if you use them, are part of the same picture on Garmin's Connect+ description.
Privacy settings are inside Garmin Connect. Review what is shared to Garmin's social features before you turn LiveTrack or challenges on. Connect+ LiveTrack options can text a contact when you start an activity. That is a location share. Leave it off if you do not want it.
You can use the watch without Connect+. You cannot use the phone history without an account. Delete or export from the Garmin account when you stop, and remove the watch from the phone. A wiped watch does not wipe Garmin's servers by itself. Garmin's privacy notice is the document for retention. The UK smart device privacy guide covers the password and recovery steps that sit beside it.
AI insights are general wellness information, not medical advice. They can be wrong. Garmin does not claim a clinician is writing them.
Pros and cons
Pros
- AMOLED, a large sports list, sleep tools and a flashlight, on the Amazon title and Garmin's Venu 4 material.
- Up to 12 days quoted on the 45 mm, up to 10 days on the 41 mm.
- No subscription for the core watch and the core Connect app.
- Active Intelligence is optional, so you can ignore the AI tier.
- 45 mm Black was in stock at £348.32 from Amazon. Price correct as of 26 October 2026.
Cons
- The AI tier costs money. 2026 UK reporting says £6.99 a month or £69.99 a year. Confirm in the app.
- The ECG app needs Garmin's regulatory wording. This page does not class the watch as a medical device.
- It will not replace a phone, and it is not a blood pressure cuff.
- The 41 mm Bone cost £373.00 the same day, more than the larger Black.
- Insight text can be wrong. Do not treat it as clinical advice.

FAQ
Do I need Garmin Connect+ for the Venu 4?
No. Heart rate, GPS activities, sleep tools and the standard Connect app work without it. Connect+ is how you add Active Intelligence and the other paid extras. Check the current UK price in the Garmin Connect app.
Is the ECG app a medical device?
This page does not call the Venu 4 a medical device. The ECG app has its own wording in Garmin's manual. Read that wording for the UK. A trace is something you can show a doctor. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a reason to change medication.
How does battery life compare with an Apple Watch?
Garmin quotes up to 12 days on the 45 mm Venu 4. Apple's Series 12 shop notes describe an all-day lab pattern on the order of a day, with a longer low-power pattern. Both are manufacturer tests. The Venu quote is the one to pick if multi-day battery is the priority.
Does it work with an iPhone?
Yes. Garmin Connect is on iPhone and Android. You are not locked to one phone brand the way Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch are.
What if I want a screenless Garmin?
Read the Garmin CIRQA review. Core metrics there are also free. You lose the watch screen, the sports apps on the wrist and the flashlight.
