Yes. A Crunch Labs UK subscription is a real order: Creative Kit and Build Box ship from crunchlabs.com to a British home address. You pay in US dollars. Shipping, VAT and any duties show at checkout or, on some routes, on delivery. There is no CrunchLabs UK warehouse you can visit. Hack Pack UK is narrower. Confirm that line on the product page before you pay, because extra duties can apply in the UK and Northern Ireland.

What is the equivalent of CrunchLabs in the UK?

There is no official UK twin of the Mark Rober box. KiwiCo, including Tinker Crate for older children, is the closest monthly STEM subscription with UK-friendly delivery. Is CrunchLabs worth the money?

It is worth the money if the child already wants Mark Rober and you can live with a Crunch Labs subscription UK price in dollars, plus freight and a slower first box. Official Build Box cost is $32.95 a box, or $29.95 / $27.45 on the annual plans. That is not the UK door price. What CrunchLabs is

CrunchLabs sells three Mark Rober kit lines. They are subscriptions, not one-off Amazon toys.

Build Box is the line most UK searches mean by Mark Rober toys or Mark Rober kits. It launched in 2022. Creative Kit arrived in 2025 for younger children. Hack Pack (2024) is the teen and adult step.

The pitch is simple. Each box has the parts, an illustrated booklet, and a Mark Rober video. CrunchLabs says you do not need the video to finish the build, but you do need the internet on a kid-safe device if you want to watch it. Build Box and Creative Kit include everything else in the box, including batteries on Build Box.

Official sample Build Box projects include a disc launcher (flywheel), coin spinner (ratchet), drawing machine (linkages) and rocket revolver (compressed air). These are working toys, not shelf models.

CrunchLabs does not sell individual Build Box or Creative Kit units. One Mark Rober kit still means a subscription.

CrunchLabs UK shop: where you actually buy

For CrunchLabs UK, the shop is the US website with international checkout.

• Open crunchlabs.com and pick Creative Kit, Build Box or Hack Pack.
• Choose a plan (annual prepaid, annual billed monthly, or a shorter quarterly / semiannual option).
• Enter a UK delivery address. The site shows shipping and any collected tax before you pay.
• Manage the subscription in the CrunchLabs account (tracking, replacement parts, auto-renew).

Crunch Labs UK stockists: the subscription is sold by CrunchLabs, not by a UK toy chain we could confirm. Amazon UK and Smyths appear in search results; that is not the same as a live, in-stock Build Box. Do not trust a third-party "Crunch Labs" ASIN. If Amazon UK later lists an official SKU, use that product page and ignore lookalikes.

Gift certificates are sold on the same site. CrunchLabs says they now work for addresses outside the US, including the United Kingdom, for Creative Kit and Build Box.

Price and subscription (Build Box)

All CrunchLabs prices below are the official US-dollar figures published on the Build Box page at the time of this update. They are not a UK landed price and they are not a deal claim. Sterling will move with the exchange rate, shipping and tax.

Build Box (monthly engineering box, ages 8-12)

• Listed box price: $32.95
• Annual plan, billed monthly: $29.95 per box ($359.40 per year)
• Annual plan, paid upfront: $27.45 per box ($329.40 per year)
• Quarterly plan: $98.85 for three boxes

CrunchLabs states that switching from Build Box to Creative Kit costs the same, so treat Creative Kit as the same dollar band unless checkout shows otherwise.

Hack Pack (robotics and coding, ages 14+, every two months)

• About $79.95 per box on the official plan page
• Needs a computer if you want the coding and "hack" path

US domestic shipping on Creative Kit and Build Box is $2.95. International shipping is extra and is shown in the basket. Expedited shipping is a US-only add-on.

Plans auto-renew. CrunchLabs says prepaid annual plans and annual plans billed monthly are not eligible for cancellation before renewal, and quarterly plans can be stopped at the end of the three-month term. Turn off auto-renew in the account portal at least three days before the next bill, or email help@crunchlabs.com. Read the live terms before you pay. We are not restating a contract.

Replacement parts for missing or damaged pieces are ordered free from the account page for that box.

UK shipping, VAT and duties

Creative Kit and Build Box ship to the United Kingdom. CrunchLabs lists the UK among the countries its partners support and where its toy testing certifications apply.

Hack Pack is narrower. The comparison page lists the US, Canada and the EU (excluding Iceland). The help centre also names the UK. The Hack Pack product page warns customers in the UK and Northern Ireland that import-law changes may mean extra duties on delivery. If you want Hack Pack in Britain, confirm the country list and the duty note at checkout that day.

What UK parents should budget for, on top of the dollar subscription:

• International shipping: shown in checkout. There is no single published UK rate.
• VAT and duties: CrunchLabs says various taxes, including VAT, and duties may be collected at checkout. Some routes collect on delivery instead. The UK £135 threshold still matters for some postal routes, so a multi-month prepaid order can be treated differently from a single box.
• Time: US addresses are quoted at 1 to 3 business days to fulfil, then 4 to 7 business days in transit. A UK parcel is slower. Use the tracking email rather than assuming a US lead time.

Platinum Ticket and Platinum Diploma promotions are sweepstakes written for the 50 US states and D.C. Do not treat a UK subscription as an entry into a US-only prize.

Age range, developmental fit and parental involvement

Creative Kit (6-10). Built around jobs and stories: architect, chef, palaeontologist. Good for a child who likes making worlds more than taking toys apart. CrunchLabs designs each kit for about 30 to 60 minutes. A six-year-old will usually want an adult at the table. A confident nine-year-old can often follow the booklet alone. Scissors may be needed. Some materials can stain tables, so cover the work surface.

Build Box (8-12). This is the core Mark Rober kit: gears, stored energy, simple machines. It suits a child who already asks how things work, builds with Lego Technic, or watches engineering videos and then wants a physical result. Official build time is 30 to 60 minutes for that age band. Younger eights often need help seating fiddly parts. Elevens and twelves can usually run the session themselves and then show you the toy. The learning is mechanical reasoning and persistence, not text coding.

Hack Pack (14+). Coding and robotics for teens (and adults). Parental involvement shifts from "sit with the build" to "provide a computer, a clear desk, and a check on accounts and downloads."

CrunchLabs says a subscription is designed for one child. A Build Box evening is a table session. If a younger sibling needs a quiet, screen-free occupation, the Yoto Mini review covers that job. It is not a Mark Rober alternative.

Safety

CrunchLabs says every product is tested with third-party agencies against US and EU safety standards for the stated age (6+ on Creative Kit, 8+ on Build Box, 14+ on Hack Pack). That is the manufacturer's claim. Check the live box for age marks, small-parts warnings and battery information when it arrives.

Treat Build Box and Hack Pack as small-parts kits. Supervise battery swaps. Keep launchers and compressed-air builds away from faces and pets. Play the video on a parent-controlled device, not an open YouTube tab.

Privacy and connected extras

The physical CrunchLabs toy does not need its own Wi-Fi login. The adult who pays has a CrunchLabs account for billing, shipping and replacement parts. The optional video needs an internet connection. Read the CrunchLabs privacy policy before you subscribe if you are uneasy about customer data sitting on a US site.

The UK kits below split cleanly:

• Botley 2.0 and Code & Go Robot Mouse: no app, no account, no camera. Sequencing happens on the toy.
• Makeblock mBot: Bluetooth and the mBlock app on a phone, tablet or computer. Set the app up on a parent device, review permissions, and keep the child's Google or Apple account locked down.

Is the Mark Rober name doing the work?

For a child who already watches Mark Rober, the video is the reason to pay international shipping. It is a guided build with a familiar presenter, not a silent IKEA sheet.

For a child who has never heard of him, you are paying for the hardware, the sequence of projects, and the habit of a box arriving. That can still be a good subscription. It is a weaker reason to accept USD pricing plus UK freight.

CrunchLabs is not a coding curriculum. Build Box is physics and mechanisms. If the school brief is "learn to code," start with a programmable robot or a first coding-robot guide and treat CrunchLabs as optional enrichment.

CrunchLabs vs a UK STEM subscription

KiwiCo (including Tinker Crate for older children) is the usual UK-address alternative: a monthly box with localised shipping, billed in a way British checkout already understands. The builds are often simpler and more craft-led than a CrunchLabs engineering toy. Use KiwiCo when you want predictable UK delivery. Use CrunchLabs when the child specifically wants Mark Rober toys.

Developmental fit: engineering plus coding, which CrunchLabs Build Box largely skips. Good for a child who wants the robot to keep learning new behaviours after the screwdriver goes away.

Parental involvement: plan a first-evening build together. After that, many nines and tens can iterate in the app with you in the room.

2. Botley 2.0 Activity Set: screen-free for younger builders

Ages: 5-9 (manufacturer). Price: £67.94 (price correct as of 3 September 2026). Amazon UK showed stock, with more on the way, on the check date.

Botley is the kit to buy when the CrunchLabs fan is eight but a younger sibling wants in, or when you want sequencing without handing over a tablet. Children tap commands on a remote programmer. The 78-piece set adds tiles, obstacles and challenge cards. No Wi-Fi, no account.

Developmental fit: early computational thinking (sequence, debug, try again). It will not scratch a twelve-year-old's Mark Rober itch. It will occupy a five-to-eight-year-old who is not ready for Build Box small parts.

Parental involvement: help set the first maze, then step back. Needs 5 AAA batteries (3 in Botley, 2 in the remote).

Safety and privacy: indoor floor toy, small accessories. No data collection on the robot itself.

Colby the mouse is a short, cheap way to teach "press a path, watch it run" before anyone talks anyone into a year of international boxes. Direction buttons sit on the mouse. Cards and maze walls come in the box.

Developmental fit: KS1-style algorithms. A Build Box child will outgrow it quickly. A four-to-seven-year-old will not.

Parental involvement: build the maze together the first time. After that it is independent play.

When a CrunchLabs subscription is a poor fit

Skip it if you need a UK parcel this week, you do not want USD plus freight plus possible VAT, the child wants a companion robot, or the only goal is school coding. A single wrap-and-give kit is easier without a CrunchLabs account.
