Apple Watch Ultra 4 is the current Ultra: GPS and cellular, 49 mm, titanium, with the health sensing Apple also put in Series 12. The listing to start with is Black titanium with the Burgundy Trail Loop in M/L, ASIN B0HJ9QL8ZG, £674.10, in stock, sold by Amazon on 26 October 2026. The same Black titanium case with a translucent black Ocean Band, B0HJB9X6GK, was £749.00. Natural titanium with a translucent grey Ocean Band, B0HJBB82TZ, was £729.00. The watch is one product. The band is why those three prices exist.
AIToys.co.uk selects and researches this page from Apple's 9 September 2026 health newsroom post, Apple's feature notes, the Amazon UK listings, and this site's Series 12 page where that page already cites Apple's UK support article. It is not a first-hand wear. There is no score. The Apple Watch Series 12 review covers the shared health features in more detail. This page does not copy that text. The shortlist is the best AI smartwatches and fitness trackers UK 2026.

It suits an iPhone owner who hikes, swims or wants the Ultra case, and who will pay Ultra money for battery and GPS rather than for a new medical claim. It is a weak fit on Android, and it is a weak fit if Series 12 already does the health job and you do not need the case.

Heart sensing and the readiness score
Ultra 4 shares Apple's Health Sensing System with Series 12. Apple describes heart rate every five seconds, and heart-rate variability as often as every five minutes. Readiness is a score from 0 to 10, with the words Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It. Daytime Vitals sit beside it. Apple says Vitals are for wellness purposes only and not for medical use.
"Most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable" is Apple's claim, from Apple's own study at apple.com/hraccuracy. That is Apple's study. This page does not adopt it as an independent result. A five-second sample is a denser chart than an occasional spot check. It is still a wrist optical sensor. Cold, a loose band and a hard interval change what any optical watch records. If a number worries you, use a chest strap for the session or speak to a clinician. Do not change training or medication from one morning's score.
Readiness is general wellness information, not medical advice. It can tell you to go hard on a day you feel awful, or the reverse. Treat the word on the watch as a prompt, then decide yourself.
Apple Intelligence: what is here, and what is still US English
Workout Buddy is the Apple Intelligence coach during a workout. Apple says it now runs without the iPhone nearby, over Wi-Fi or cellular, in English and Spanish. You still need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone for setup, and Bluetooth headphones to hear it. Cellular on the Ultra is what keeps that path alive away from Wi-Fi. A GPS-only Series 12 does not have the same "watch alone" story. Ultra 4's listings here are GPS + Cellular.
The redesigned Health app with Apple Intelligence starts in US English, with more languages to follow, on Apple's newsroom line. Quest labs are described as US only. Do not assume the new Health screens are in UK English on day one. Workout Buddy's language list and the Health app's language list are different. Check the watch.
Hypertension notifications: check availability in the UK. Apple's UK support article, cited on the Series 12 review, says the feature may not be available on Series 12 or Ultra 4 while extra clearances are in process. It is not a blood pressure reading. Do not buy Ultra 4 for that alert until the Health app on a UK phone shows it. Do not change medication from it.
Battery and charging
The Amazon listing quotes up to 45 hours of Max Extended Workout tracking, and a 15-minute charge for up to 18 hours, in the listing's wording. Those are Apple's test patterns for a long workout mode, not a promise of 45 hours of always-on maps, music and cellular. Use them to compare with Series 12, whose lab pattern is a day rather than a two-day workout block.
This site's smartwatch shortlist has cited Apple's UK shop for a battery test on the order of 50 hours. That shop figure and the listing's 45-hour Max Extended Workout line are not the same sentence. Read Apple's current UK tech specs if the difference matters to you. This page leads with the listing figure because that is the text attached to the ASIN.
Fast charge helps if you are leaving in the morning. It does not turn Ultra 4 into a fortnight Garmin. For a 21-day quote, read the Huawei Watch GT 7 review or the Amazfit Balance 3 review. Those are different phones, different apps and different maps.
Safety features
The listing describes fall detection, crash detection and satellite communications for emergency texts. Satellite SOS shares your location with emergency services. That is the feature working, not a private side channel. Crash and fall detection can call for help when you cannot. They can also false-trigger. Learn the cancel window before you wear it on a bumpy track.
Water is the other safety line people buy the Ultra for. The Series 12 review on this site records Apple's UK shop rating Ultra 4 to 100 metres, including recreational scuba to 40 metres with a compatible app. Re-read Apple's current UK page before a dive. A shop rating is not a substitute for dive training, a depth gauge you trust, or the Ocean Band if that is the strap Apple's dive notes assume. The Trail Loop is the cheaper listing on this page. It is a trail strap. If the dive rating depends on a specific band, buy that band.

Ultra 3 at £549.00 is £125.10 less than the Trail Loop Ultra 4 and £200 less than the black Ocean Band. Buy Ultra 3 if the 2026 heart cadence and readiness score are not the reason you are shopping, and the older Ultra is enough watch. Buy Ultra 4 if you want that sensing and you accept the gap. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 review is the write-up of the earlier shape. It is not a current price.

Ultra 4 and Series 12
Series 12 is the watch most iPhone owners should read first. GPS 42 mm Black was £332.10 on 26 October 2026. Ultra 4's Trail Loop was £674.10, about £342 more. For that money you get the 49 mm case, the longer workout battery quote, dual-frequency GPS on the Ultra listing, satellite emergency texts, and cellular as standard on these Ultra listings. You do not get a different readiness score. Apple's health post treats the sensing system as shared.
If you want the score and Workout Buddy, and you charge overnight, Series 12 is the smaller spend. The Series 12 review is the page for size, hypertension wording and what Workout Buddy needs. If you want the case and the dive line, stay on this page and then pick a band.
Which band, and which price
Three in-stock Amazon listings, all Apple, all Ultra 4, on 26 October 2026:
- Black titanium, Burgundy Trail Loop M/L, B0HJ9QL8ZG, £674.10. This is the lead link. Same case, fabric loop, lower price that day.
- Natural titanium, translucent grey Ocean Band, B0HJBB82TZ, £729.00. Different case colour and the Ocean Band.
- Black titanium, translucent black Ocean Band, B0HJB9X6GK, £749.00. The photo many older links used. It is £74.90 more than the Trail Loop for the strap and the finish.

Avoid renewed listings and third-party sellers this page has not checked. The prices above were sold by Amazon. A "Renewed" title is a different warranty. Price correct as of 26 October 2026. Bands move. If the Trail Loop is no longer £674.10, the Ocean Band prices are the comparison, not a promise.
Account, data and privacy
An Apple ID is required. The watch pairs with an iPhone. Health data can stay on the device and, if you turn it on, sync through iCloud. Apple says movement evaluations run on device and that no video is recorded or stored. Workout Buddy uses workout metrics. It is not a recording of the people around you unless you turn a separate audio feature on.
Satellite emergency texts share location with emergency services. That share is intentional. Third-party apps are outside Apple's on-device design. Read their prompts.
The UK smart device privacy guide covers Apple ID recovery and two-factor authentication. The watch is only as private as the iPhone.
AI guidance is general wellness and fitness information, not medical advice. Vitals are not for medical use, in Apple's words.

FAQ
Does the Apple Watch Ultra 4 work with Android?
No. Setup needs an iPhone. Android buyers should read the Galaxy Watch9 review, the Pixel Watch 5 review, or the Garmin Venu 4 review.
Are hypertension notifications available in the UK?
Check availability in the UK. Apple's UK support article says Series 12 and Ultra 4 may still be waiting on clearance. The alert is not a blood pressure measurement.
How does Ultra 4 compare with Ultra 3?
Ultra 3 was £549.00. Ultra 4's Trail Loop was £674.10 and the black Ocean Band was £749.00. Ultra 4 is the model with the 2026 heart sensing and readiness score. Ultra 3 is the lower price for the previous Ultra.
Can I dive with it?
Apple's UK shop, as recorded on this site's Series 12 review, rates Ultra 4 to 100 metres, including recreational scuba to 40 metres with a compatible app. Read Apple's current UK note, and buy the band that note assumes, before you treat the Trail Loop listing as dive kit.
How long does the battery last?
The Amazon listing quotes up to 45 hours of Max Extended Workout tracking, and up to 18 hours from a 15-minute charge. Those are Apple's test patterns. A brighter always-on day with music and cellular will be shorter. Series 12 is the daily-charge Apple Watch. This is the longer quote.
