Apple Watch Audio Intelligence is in the watchOS 27.3 beta
watchOS 27.3's developer beta adds Siri Recap and Live Rewind on Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. Apple's privacy claims, and UK prices on 5 November.
On 3 November 2026, Apple opened the watchOS 27.3 developer beta with Audio Intelligence. The Verge, 9to5Mac and MacRumors reported it that day. TechCrunch ran Sarah Perez's account on 4 November. Siri Recap and Live Rewind are new, on Series 12 and Ultra 4 only. A public beta date and a UK release date are not in those reports. MacRumors expects December, which Apple has not confirmed.
The Series 12 review already treated this as a beta due later in 2026. This is that developer beta.

What is in the beta
Apple's privacy overview (September 2026) lists four S11 features on these watches: Siri Recap, Live Rewind, Shazam and Sound Recognition. MacRumors says Shazam and Sound Recognition were already on the watch, and that the new pair starts in English, is not available under 13, and needs parental approval on a Child Account under 18. The iPhone needs a Secure Exclave: iPhone 16, 16 Pro, 17e, Air, or later. This is an adult wearable, not a toy.
What AI does here
From Apple's paper, not a test on this site.
Live Rewind buffers the mic in the S11 Secure Exclave. Double-press the Digital Crown and the previous 15 seconds go to the paired iPhone. On-device speech recognition makes the text, then deletes the raw audio. The text clears 30 seconds after the display dims unless you save it. Asking Siri sends only the text to Private Cloud Compute. If the iPhone is out of range, the audio is discarded. A chime plays even on silent, with a microphone indicator.
Siri Recap is opt-in and does not name speakers. A small on-watch model notices speech without transcribing that check. Encrypted audio moves from the watch Secure Exclave to the iPhone Secure Exclave, then the raw audio is deleted. If the keys expire before the phone is in range, the audio is deleted anyway. On the iPhone, on-device models transcribe, shorten the text to less than half, and delete the audio. Private Cloud Compute writes a title and key points. Apple says the request is not stored and that Apple cannot read it. Summaries omit bank details and government IDs.
Privacy
The Verge quotes Apple: raw audio "is handled within dedicated hardware, is not saved as a file, and is not accessible to the operating system, apps, or Apple." Saved text syncs end-to-end encrypted if iCloud two-factor authentication and a device passcode are on. Apple says it does not hold the keys. You opt in. Unsaved recaps last 7 days.
Recap is not a transcript and does not chime. Sarah Perez wrote in TechCrunch on 4 November that her Apple Watch kept a deductible, a repair time frame and a rental fuel level, then mixed in home chat about an errand, babysitting and midterms coverage. She had left it on all day and was considering switching it off that evening. That test is hers.
Tell people before a meeting. In the UK, say so before summarising someone else. If an employer requires the feature or keeps the notes, the data protection duty is the employer's. Plaud's listing says to tell people and get their okay. The privacy guide covers the Apple ID. The watch is only as private as that iPhone.
What you can buy on Amazon UK now
Buying the watch does not install this developer beta. The Series 12 listing still says some Audio Intelligence features are coming in beta late 2026. Prices are Amazon UK on 5 November 2026.

Series 12 and Ultra 4 only, with a supported iPhone, in this developer beta. Series 11 does not. December, in MacRumors' view, is not a date from Apple.
Are the features on by default?
No. You opt in. Live Rewind needs a double-press. You choose when Recap runs.
Does Apple store the audio?
Apple says no file is kept. Unsaved recaps last 7 days. Saved text is end-to-end encrypted with iCloud two-factor authentication and a passcode.
