LOOI is a small wheeled base that turns a phone you already own into a desk robot. The phone is the face, the camera, the microphone and the computer. The base drives, tilts, charges the handset wirelessly and keeps the phone from being a flat slab on the desk. Tangible Future sells it as model L-01. On 25 October 2026 both colours were buyable on Amazon UK from a third-party seller, with dispatch in 3 to 4 days rather than immediate stock.
AIToys.co.uk selects and researches from Tangible Future's product page, the Amazon UK listing and owner reports. We do not run a lab and we do not claim a first-hand test. There is no score on this page. Figures below are the current model's published specs unless marked as an older manual or an owner report.

Quick verdict: who LOOI suits
LOOI suits a teen or adult who wants a character on a desk and is willing to dock a recent phone for the session. It does not suit a young child, a household that will not allow a camera and microphone on the desk, or anyone who needs a robot that walks the floor on its own.
The honest UK position on 25 October 2026: you can order it from Amazon UK, you will likely wait a few days, and the seller is UKZEZSTORE rather than Amazon itself. Starlight White was £258.22. Space Black was £267.88. Price correct as of 25 October 2026. That is a snapshot, not a deal claim.

How LOOI works: your phone is the face
There is no screen in the box. You fit a phone to the base, MagSafe-first on iPhone or with the included docking ring on other phones, and the LOOI app uses that screen for eyes, animations and chat. Tangible Future's product page describes the base as model L-01:
- About 110 x 98 x 110 mm
- About 385 g without the phone
- 6,000 mAh battery on the current product page
- About 5 hours of continuous use, and about 30 days on standby
- 9V 2A input
- Up to 10W wireless charging to the phone, only if the phone itself supports wireless charging
- Touch sensors and a time-of-flight edge sensor on the base
- A stand angle from 0 to 60 degrees, so it can also be a phone stand, a face-tracking video mount or a desk clock
An older manual has listed 5,000 mAh and 15W charging. Those figures disagree with the current product page. Use the product page for the model on sale now, and treat the manual numbers as a previous revision.
The Amazon listing's pitch, paraphrased, is conversation with memory, expressions that include sleep and startle, and recognition of faces, touch and gestures. The phone does the seeing and hearing. The base does the moving and the charging.
Will my phone work?
Tangible Future's compatibility notes, not a test we ran:
| Phone | What the maker says |
| iPhone | iOS 17 or later. iPhone 12 and later recommended, because of MagSafe. |
| Android | Android 12 or later. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or newer is recommended. The docking ring is for phones without MagSafe. |
| Wireless charging | Only if the phone supports it. The base cannot add wireless charging to a phone that lacks it. |
| Not recommended | Flip phones and tablets. |
A phone that is too heavy, too thick in a case, or missing the cameras the app expects will disappoint. Take the case off for the first setup so the dock can grip. The phone is not included in the £258.22.
What it does day to day
From the product page, the listing and owner reports, a typical session looks like this. The robot sits on a desk. The face tracks the person in front of it. Touch and gestures change the animation. Chat goes through the phone's network to a ChatGPT-style service. The Amazon listing says that conversation is in English and Chinese only. Between chats it can sleep, show a clock, or hold the phone at a useful angle for a call.
The February 2024 video above is an early look. Firmware, the chat model and the animation set have had time to change. Use it for the hardware idea, not as a menu-by-menu map of the app in late 2026.
Owner reports split in a familiar way for this kind of gadget. Some people like that the "brain" is a phone they already trust and already paid for. Others send it back over wake-word misses, a fussy dock, or an app that does less than the listing implies. We report that split. We did not reproduce it.
Edge sensing is there so it is less likely to drive off the desk. It is not a guarantee. Dark surfaces, glass and clutter still show up in owner reports of falls. A lipped tray is the practical fix.

Privacy: camera, microphone, ChatGPT and memory
LOOI is a connected product because your phone is a connected product. Putting the phone in the base does not turn the camera off. It points it at the room and adds wheels.
- The phone's cameras do face tracking and "visual understanding" of objects, people and scenes, which is the Amazon title's own claim
- The phone's microphones take voice
- Chat is cloud AI. The listing describes memory, so conversations are not guaranteed to vanish when you leave the desk
- The account is the adult's phone account
- English and Chinese are the chat languages called out on the listing
An adult should own the phone, review the app permissions, and decide which room the robot is allowed in. Do not dock a phone that is signed into a child's iCloud or Google account if you do not want that account holding robot photos. Do not leave it running in a bedroom or on a work call you would not record.
The manual's battery warnings are ordinary and worth following: do not crush the pack, and keep charging temperatures at or below 25°C as the manual states. This is not a bath toy and not a cot toy.
The same rules are written up more generally in smart toy privacy UK 2026.
LOOI vs Loona vs EMO
These three are often searched together. They are not the same object.
| LOOI | Loona | EMO | |
| What it is | Phone docked in a desk base | Robot dog that roams a floor | Living.ai desk pet with its own face |
| Needs your phone? | Yes | No | No |
| Camera | The phone's camera | On the robot | On the robot |
| Moves around a room? | Desk only | Yes, it is a floor pet | Desk, with edge sensing |
| Amazon UK on 25 Oct 2026 | Buyable, 3 to 4 day dispatch, from £258.22 | Not available as a verified listing | No official Living.ai listing |
Loona already has a full page: the Loona robot dog review. That review's current line is that Loona is not available from Amazon UK. On 25 October 2026 the Creators API still could not return a verified Loona price or stock. A web listing exists, but it came back as not accessible through the API, and name searches returned accessories rather than the robot. This page therefore does not print a Loona price. KEYi sells the petbot from its own UK site at keyirobot.com. That is a plain factual link, not an affiliate button. There is also a separate product called Loona Deskmate. This comparison is about the floor petbot, not Deskmate.
EMO is the other desk robot in the search. It is not on Amazon UK as an official Living.ai product. How to order it, and why the Amazon buttons on that page are alternatives, is in the EMO robot review.
Choose LOOI if the phone in your pocket is the computer you want to use, and a desk is the whole world the robot needs. Choose Loona if you want a dog-shaped robot that moves around a room and you are willing to buy it outside Amazon UK. Choose EMO if you want Living.ai's own face and skateboard dock and you accept a US dollar order from overseas.
Pros and cons
Pros
- The expensive part, the screen and the processor, is a phone you may already own
- Published battery figures suit desk sessions rather than a five-minute demo
- Face tracking, gestures and a tilt stand are in the maker's spec
- Both colours were buyable on Amazon UK on 25 October 2026
- Wireless charging to the phone, up to 10W, if the phone supports it
Cons
- Useless without a compatible phone, and the phone is not in the box
- Dispatch was 3 to 4 days, sold by UKZEZSTORE, not by Amazon
- Camera, microphone, cloud chat and conversation memory
- Chat languages on the listing are English and Chinese only
- Not a children's toy, whatever an "all ages" line on a marketplace title implies
- Desk falls can damage the phone
Price and where to buy in the UK
Both listings were usually dispatched within 3 to 4 days. That is a lead time, and it is still buyable. Model number on the API record for the white unit is RLIB01.

Space Black, £267.88 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). Same seller and the same dispatch window. The API title is simply "Tangible Future LOOI robot"; the black base is taken from the product image, so confirm the colour photos on the live page. Check Space Black on Amazon UK
Age range: teens and adults. No manufacturer minimum age was published.
Developmental fit: a desk companion for someone who can be trusted with a smartphone camera. Not a developmental toy for primary age.
Safety notes: wheels, a lithium battery, and a phone that can fall. Keep it off high, bare tables. Follow the manual's charging-temperature note.
Parental involvement: an adult's phone and an adult's account. High if a teenager is the user. Do not hand the docked phone to a younger child.
Frequently asked questions
Does LOOI need a subscription?
The 25 October Amazon listing describes ChatGPT voice interaction and memory. It does not state a separate monthly price in the fields returned to us. Open the live listing and the app's paywall screen before you assume chat stays included. We will not invent a fee.
Does LOOI work with Android?
Yes, on the maker's notes: Android 12 or later, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or newer recommended. A docking ring is included for phones that are not MagSafe. Wireless charging still depends on the phone.
Is LOOI good for kids?
No, not as a children's toy. The listing copy can sound broad. The product needs an adult's phone, camera permission and a cloud account. A teenager can use it on a family desk with those controls in place. A younger child should not.
How does LOOI compare with Loona?
LOOI stays on the desk and borrows your phone. Loona is a robot dog with its own camera that moves around a room, and it was not a verified Amazon UK buy on 25 October 2026. Read the Loona review for that robot, and do not expect a pound price for it on this page.
How does LOOI compare with EMO?
EMO has its own face and is sold by Living.ai, not as an official Amazon UK listing. LOOI is the Amazon UK desk robot that was actually orderable, if you can spare the phone. See the EMO review.
