Best Robot Cats UK 2026: 10 Picks for Kids, Adults and Older Relatives

Robot cats for UK buyers, from realistic AI companion cats to programmable kittens. Ages, sensors, privacy and prices are correct as of 25 October 2026.

As an Amazon Associate, AIToys.co.uk earns from qualifying purchases.

A robot cat is a stand-in for a real one: fur or plastic, a purr, a reaction when you stroke it, and none of the feeding. This page is a UK shortlist of ten Amazon listings checked on 25 October 2026. Nine had a stock status. FurReal Boots had a price and no availability, so that one stays unknown. They split into two jobs. Realistic companion cats, aimed at adults and older relatives, purr and respond to touch. Children's robot cats are programmable, remote-controlled or simple interactive plush. Mixing those jobs up is how people end up with a plastic kitten for a grandparent, or a £179 companion for a four-year-old who wanted to press buttons.

AIToys.co.uk selects and researches from manufacturer listings and the Creators API snapshot. We do not run a lab and we do not claim a first-hand test. There are no scores. Prices are snapshots, not a deal claim. A missing availability field is unknown, not out of stock. One line for a different search: toys for a real cat, such as automated lasers and feeders, are in best smart pet tech UK 2026, not here.

The 10 robot cats

1. Elephant Robotics metaCat, Ragdoll: best realistic AI cat

Elephant Robotics metaCat Ragdoll interactive robot cat

Age range: The listing says "gifts for all ages" and does not give a minimum. Confirm the box.

Developmental fit: A lap companion for teens, adults and older relatives who want something that feels close to a cat. Under-3s need an adult because of fur, small sensors and a charging lead.

Safety notes: Type-C charging. The listing quotes about a week of mixed use and sleep. Do not machine-wash the electronics. Synthetic fur is pitched as an option for people who react to real cat hair; that is the maker's claim, not a medical guarantee. Six-month warranty in the API data. Dispatched in 6 to 7 days by Elephant Robotics, which is buyable, not same-day.

Parental involvement: Low after charging, for an adult user. An adult should set it up if a child is nearby.

Privacy: 29 voice commands, so there is a microphone. Touch sensors on the head, chin and back. Light-sensing eyes. No app and no camera in the listing we checked. Switch it off in a room where you do not want a microphone.

metaCat is the pick when realism matters: meows, purrs, a heartbeat, tail flicks and blinking, triggered by touch and by words such as a head shake. A bicolor black-and-white variant, ASIN B0C98XW97S, was the same price and the same lead time.

Pros

  • The most complete "real cat" feature list on this page
  • No app account
  • Maker is the seller

Cons

  • £179, and a 6 to 7 day dispatch
  • Microphone for voice commands
  • No minimum age on the listing, so you have to judge the household

£179.00 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). Check metaCat on Amazon UK

2. Joy For All companion cat, orange tabby: best for older relatives

Joy For All interactive companion cat, orange tabby

Age range: Marketed to older adults and carers, not as a children's toy.

Developmental fit: Comfort and something to stroke. It is the wrong shape of present for a child who wants to program a robot.

Safety notes: Battery powered. Confirm the battery type on the live listing before you buy spares. Soft synthetic fur. No assembly, which matters if the recipient will not be setting up an app. Sold by Ravencourt, a third-party seller, and in stock. A black-and-white tuxedo, B078FFX7Q8, was £149.99 and in stock the same day.

Parental involvement: Not a parent product. A carer may need to change batteries and show the person how stroking the back starts a purr. No account to create.

Privacy: Motion and touch sensors. The listing does not describe an app, a camera or Wi-Fi. That is the privacy advantage over a robot with a phone inside it.

Joy For All's listing describes eyes, a paw, a mouth, head and body movement, plus VibraPurr, a purr you can hear and feel. It does not claim to treat any condition. See the section below before you buy one for somebody living with dementia.

Pros

  • In stock, no app, no camera
  • Designed around stroking and a purr
  • A second colour was also in stock

Cons

  • £149.99 from a third-party seller
  • Not a toy for children
  • Battery type needs a look on the live page

£149.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check the Joy For All cat on Amazon UK

3. Chongker Percy: best mid-price comfort cat

Chongker Percy black and white robot companion cat

Age range: Aimed at seniors, parents and grandparents. Check the listing for a minimum age before you give it to a young child.

Developmental fit: A soft lap cat with a purr and a heartbeat. Suitable for an older relative, or for a child who wants to stroke something, with a grown-up nearby for charging.

Safety notes: Built-in rechargeable battery. The port is hidden in the belly, which keeps the look and also means a child can fiddle with a cable in a soft toy. Do not wash it as if it were ordinary plush. Sold by Kepante and in stock.

Parental involvement: Low. No app. Show how to charge it and how to use the controls in the paws.

Privacy: Touch and voice response, and a custom name, which means a microphone. No app on the listing. Turn it off in a private room if that matters.

Percy is handcrafted plush with five touch sensors. A breathing-motion variant, B0GG8KX3WD, was £109.65 and in stock. An older Chongker ASIN used elsewhere on this site no longer resolves, so this page uses B0D31KJY9V.

Pros

  • In stock under £80
  • Purr, heartbeat and touch response without an app
  • A breathing variant exists if you want more movement

Cons

  • Third-party seller
  • Microphone for voice and the custom name
  • Less "AI cat" than metaCat, which is also why it costs less

£79.19 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check Chongker Percy on Amazon UK

4. Lexibook Power Kitty: best programmable robot cat for children

Lexibook Power Kitty programmable robot cat

Age range: Not in the API data. Lexibook markets Power Kitty to young children. Read the box age before you buy.

Developmental fit: Cause and effect, sequences and remote control. It is a floor toy with lights, not a lap companion.

Safety notes: Rechargeable robot body. The remote takes replaceable batteries, which are a swallowing risk. Keep the remote and any spare cells away from under-3s. Sold by Amazon and in stock.

Parental involvement: Medium at first. An adult should charge it, fit the remote batteries and stay for the first sessions with younger children. Older primary children can run the remote once the tricks are learned.

Privacy: Remote, follow-me and gesture modes. No camera and no cloud account in the listing.

The listing describes programmable dance and command sequences, a head you can pet for a reaction, and LED eyes. It is the sensible "robot cat" when the child wants to drive something, not cuddle it.

Pros

  • In stock at £34.99, sold by Amazon
  • Programmable sequences and a remote
  • No account

Cons

  • Minimum age was not in the data we received
  • Remote batteries to manage
  • Plastic and lights, so it will not read as a real cat

£34.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check Power Kitty on Amazon UK

5. Varrotoy remote-control robot cat: budget programmable pick

Varrotoy remote control robot cat for ages 8 and up

Age range: 8+ on the listing title.

Developmental fit: Simple programming: press actions, then play the sequence back. A reasonable step for a child who likes robots and is past preschool plush.

Safety notes: ABS plastic, which the listing calls smooth and non-sharp. Built-in rechargeable battery and a charging cable. Brand seller Varrotoy. Keep the cable away from younger siblings.

Parental involvement: Medium for the first charge and the first program. Lower once an eight-year-old knows the buttons.

Privacy: Remote control, lights and sound. No app and no camera described.

Walking, sitting and dancing are the tricks. It is a budget alternative to Power Kitty, with a clearer age on the title.

Pros

  • 8+ is printed on the listing
  • In stock at £32.99
  • Sequence programming without an account

Cons

  • A small brand seller
  • Plastic toy, not a companion animal
  • Less established than Lexibook

£32.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check the Varrotoy cat on Amazon UK

6. FurReal Boots the Biscuit-Making Kitty: interactive plush for younger children

FurReal Boots the Biscuit-Making Kitty interactive plush cat

Age range: 4 and up on the listing.

Developmental fit: Pretend care. Kneading, sounds and a small accessory. Good for a child who wants a soft cat that reacts, not a programmable robot.

Safety notes: 25 cm plush. The availability field was missing on 25 October 2026 (type AVAILABLE_DATE). That means stock is unknown, not that it is unavailable. A price was still returned. Sold by Amazon. Check the live page on the day you buy.

Parental involvement: Low. Show the on switch and the kneading trick. Supervise the accessory with younger siblings.

Privacy: Touch reactions and sounds. No app described.

Pros

  • Clear 4+ age
  • Soft, and sized for small hands
  • Sold by Amazon

Cons

  • Availability was unknown on the snapshot date
  • Sounds can be repetitive
  • Not a robot you program

£39.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). Availability unknown. Check FurReal Boots on Amazon UK

7. Little Live Pets Mama Surprise Kittens

Little Live Pets Mama Surprise interactive cat with kittens

Age range: 4+ on the listing.

Developmental fit: Nurture play. Feed the mama cat, then find three kittens in the basket. It suits children who like care stories more than coding.

Safety notes: Small kittens and a fish accessory. Keep them away from under-3s. The play is repeatable: the babies go back in the basket. Sold by Amazon and in stock.

Parental involvement: Low to medium. A four-year-old may need help reloading the basket. Easy to leave out once they know the loop.

Privacy: On-toy sounds and reactions. No app and no camera described. The listing claims 15 or more sounds.

Pros

  • In stock at £26.99
  • Repeatable reveal, so it is not a one-time unboxing
  • Clear 4+ age

Cons

  • Small parts
  • Plastic surprise toy, not a realistic cat
  • Sound play can annoy in a quiet room

£26.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check Mama Surprise Kittens on Amazon UK

8. Marsjoy walking ragdoll on a lead

Marsjoy electronic walking ragdoll cat on a lead

Age range: Not stated in the API data. The listing is aimed at young children. Treat the box age as the rule, and keep it away from under-3s until you have read it.

Developmental fit: A plush that walks, wags and meows when a child presses the handle. Simple cause and effect.

Safety notes: A lead and a walking mechanism. Small brand seller Happy Times Toy. The listing also says it can repeat what you say, which means a microphone, and that volume can be adjusted. Copy on this one should stay modest: it is a budget electric plush, not an AI pet.

Parental involvement: Medium. An adult should try the repeat-speech feature and decide whether it belongs in the house. Show a child the off switch.

Privacy: Touch meows and speech repeat. No app mentioned. If it records or repeats voices, do not leave it running in a private conversation.

Pros

  • In stock around £31
  • Walks and reacts without an app
  • Volume adjustment is mentioned

Cons

  • No age in the data we received
  • Third-party seller, so keep expectations ordinary
  • Speech repeat is a microphone feature

£30.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check the Marsjoy cat on Amazon UK

9. Micropets Kitten: pocket-money pick

Micropets Kitten interactive electronic robot pet

Age range: 4 and up on the listing.

Developmental fit: Care play in a very small body: charging when energy is low, a potty step, sounds and movement across five levels. Fine as a stocking extra. Easy to lose.

Safety notes: Small electronic toy. Not for under-3s, even though the stated age starts at 4, because small toys migrate. Sold by Amazon and in stock. The listing claims 50 or more reactions.

Parental involvement: Low. Explain the care steps once.

Privacy: On-device lights, sounds and movement. No app described.

Pros

  • £14.70 and in stock
  • Clear 4+ age
  • More reactions than the price suggests, on the maker's claim

Cons

  • Easy to lose in a sofa
  • Not a lap cat
  • Levels of play are a script, not a companion

£14.70 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check Micropets Kitten on Amazon UK

10. Pets Alive Smitten Kittens Series 2

Pets Alive Smitten Kittens Series 2 calico plush cat

Age range: 3+ on the listing.

Developmental fit: A soft collectable with a purr and stickers. The youngest-friendly pick on this page, still with the usual small-parts caution around younger toddlers in the same room.

Safety notes: Plush, 10 sounds, surprise unboxing. Sold by Amazon and in stock. The calico is the colour in this ASIN. Stickers are a choking risk if a much younger child gets the packet.

Parental involvement: Low. Sit with a three-year-old for the unboxing.

Privacy: On-toy sounds. No app and no camera.

Pros

  • In stock at £14.99
  • 3+ is stated
  • Soft, which is what many three- and four-year-olds actually want

Cons

  • Collectable series, so children may want more of them
  • Ten sounds, then it is a plush
  • Not a robot in any programming sense

£14.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check Smitten Kittens on Amazon UK

Robot cats for older relatives

Companion cats are comfort objects. They are not medical devices. They do not treat dementia, depression or loneliness, and this page does not claim that they do. Carers sometimes choose them because they purr, blink and respond to stroking without food, litter or a vet. That is a practical comfort, and it is also a disappointment if the person wanted a real animal and can tell the difference.

Joy For All is the listing written for older adults. Chongker Percy is the lower-priced lap cat with a custom name. metaCat is the one with voice commands and a more robotic realism, at a higher price and a longer dispatch. None of the three needs a smartphone app on the listings we checked. Take the one you can switch off, and show the person the off switch on day one.

If the household already has a real cat, a robot can annoy it. Introduce them slowly, and do not leave a moving toy unsupervised with an animal that might chew a cable.

Robot cats for children: programmable or plush

Programmable and remote-control cats (Lexibook, Varrotoy) suit children who want to drive and sequence. Plush reactors (FurReal, Little Live Pets, Micropets, Smitten Kittens, and the Marsjoy walker) suit younger pretend play. The realistic AI cats are a lot of money for a child who will prefer the buttons.

For a robot dog instead, see best robot dogs UK 2026. For desk robots that are not cat-shaped, see the LOOI review and the wider robot pets roundup.

Do robot cats have cameras or microphones?

None of the ten listings describes a camera. That is the useful difference between this list and a desktop robot such as LOOI or Vector.

Microphones show up on a few. metaCat listens for voice commands. Chongker lists voice response and a custom name. Marsjoy can repeat speech. The children's plush and remote-control cats do not describe an app account. If a listing is silent, treat that as "not stated", and read the live page, rather than as a promise of silence.

No Wi-Fi is required for the cats whose listings do not mention an app. metaCat, Joy For All and Chongker are the comfort group and they stay offline apart from any onboard microphone. The programmable cats use a remote or buttons on the toy.

How to choose

Budget. Under £40 covers the children's toys. £79 is Chongker. £150 to £179 is the realistic companion pair, Joy For All and metaCat.

Realism. Fur, purr and heartbeat if the person will hold it. Plastic and LEDs if the child will drive it.

Noise. Purrs are quiet. Song, dance and surprise-toy squeaks are not. Check volume, especially for Marsjoy, which mentions an adjustment.

Battery. metaCat quotes about a week of mixed use. Joy For All needs the battery type confirmed. Several children's toys use a built-in rechargeable cell plus a remote that takes replaceable batteries.

Allergies. metaCat's listing says the synthetic fur suits people who react to real cats. That is a manufacturer line. It does not make the toy hypoallergenic for every person, and it says nothing about dust in the fur.

Dispatch. metaCat's 6 to 7 days is still a real order. FurReal Boots had a price and no availability field, so do not assume it will arrive this week.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best robot cat in the UK?

For a realistic companion, metaCat Ragdoll is the fullest feature list, at £179 with a 6 to 7 day dispatch. For an older relative who should not have to learn an app, Joy For All at £149.99 was in stock. For a child, match programmable (8+ Varrotoy, or Lexibook) against plush (4+ FurReal and Little Live Pets, 3+ Smitten Kittens). There is no single winner.

Are robot cats good for older people?

They can be company to stroke. They are not a treatment and not a substitute for care. Pick a model with no app, show the off switch, and do not describe it as therapy.

What age is a robot cat for?

Smitten Kittens states 3+. Several plush toys state 4+. Varrotoy states 8+. metaCat says all ages and publishes no minimum, so supervise little children. Joy For All is marketed to older adults, not children.

Do robot cats need Wi-Fi?

Not the ten on this page, based on their listings. Voice-command models still have a microphone. None of them listed a camera.
