EMO Robot Review UK 2026: Price, EMO Go Home and Alternatives

Living.ai EMO is a small desk robot with a face, a camera and a skateboard-shaped charging dock. UK shoppers cannot buy an official Living.ai EMO from Amazon.co.uk. Creators API searches on 25 October 2026, for EMO robot, Living.ai EMO and EMO Go Home, found no branded listing, and the US product codes do not resolve on the UK marketplace. Living.ai sells EMO and EMO Go Home from its own store in US dollars, shipped from overseas, so a UK buyer should expect shipping plus possible import VAT and duty. The Amazon buttons on this page are other desk and home robots that were buyable that day, not EMO itself. The photograph at the top is Living.ai's own product image of EMO.

AIToys.co.uk selects and researches from Living.ai's published specifications, the Creators API snapshot and owner reports. We do not run a lab and we do not claim a first-hand test. There is no score on this page.

Quick answer: what EMO is, and whether UK buyers can get it

EMO is Living.ai's desktop pet. The company describes more than 1,000 expressions and moves, an HD camera that can recognise up to 10 faces, a four-microphone array that wakes on "Hey Emo", a head touch sensor, a speaker, and edge sensing so it is less likely to drive off a desk. It uses a neural-network processor, takes over-the-air firmware updates, and has an iOS and Android app for games, photos and a smart light. It can also do alarm, weather and simple questions, according to Living.ai.

It is a teen and adult desk gadget. Living.ai's product page does not publish a children's age. An adult should set it up. It is small enough to fall off a cluttered desk even with edge sensors, so it does not belong on a high shelf above a toddler.

The short UK buying answer: order from Living.ai if you want the real EMO, and use Amazon UK only for the alternatives below. Do not treat an unbranded marketplace listing as the official robot.

EMO vs EMO Go Home: what the extra money buys

Standard EMO charges on the skateboard dock. Living.ai says that dock can also wirelessly charge a phone. EMO Go Home adds a Home Station. The robot walks back to charge, and the station adds an LED matrix and a laser-based "home fence" that defines where it should stay.

On the Living.ai store, checked via search on 25 October 2026, the prices were:

  • EMO: $279
  • EMO White: $289
  • EMO GO HOME: $369
  • EMO GO HOME White: $379

Those figures are US dollars. This page does not convert them to pounds. Shipping is from overseas. UK buyers pay the shipping Living.ai quotes at checkout, and may also pay import VAT and duty. That can change the real cost by a lot, so read the checkout total before you pay.

The extra money is the self-return charger and the fence, not a different personality. Standard EMO is the lower store price if it will live on one desk. Go Home is the one that walks back to charge.

What EMO can do, from Living.ai's specs

Beyond the quick answer, the hardware notes list four servos, a time-of-flight sensor, edge and drop sensing, and a body of about 248 g and 94 x 66 x 117 mm. Standard EMO's skateboard dock is listed with 5W wireless phone charging. Go Home adds auto-return charging, an LED matrix and the home fence. The app covers games, photos, a smart light, alarm, weather and questions, plus over-the-air updates.

The Eric's Tech World film above is one owner's account from 2024 of a robot that settles into a desk routine. It is not a measurement we made, and later firmware may have changed the menus.

Camera, microphone and app: privacy for families

EMO is a connected product. Plan for all of the following before it joins a family desk:

  • An always-listening wake word ("Hey Emo")
  • A camera that stores face recognition for up to 10 people
  • Wi-Fi
  • A cloud app account on iOS or Android
  • Photos and games that leave the robot and sit in the app

An adult should create the account, choose the Wi-Fi network, and decide which room it is allowed in. Do not put a face-recognising camera in a bedroom, a bathroom or a child's private space. Switch it off, or point it at a blank wall, when you do not want it listening for the wake phrase. The fuller checklist is in our guide to smart toy privacy in the UK.

How to buy EMO in the UK

The official shop is the Living.ai store. That is a plain link, not an affiliate button. Prices were in US dollars on 25 October 2026 and the order ships from overseas, so budget for delivery plus possible import VAT and duty. A cross-border return is slower than an Amazon UK return. Read Living.ai's returns line before you pay.

Amazon UK is not a source for official EMO on this check.

  • Some marketplace listings show EMO's skateboard and headphones under a generic brand, and copy the published size and sensor list. They are not Living.ai. We are not linking them. If you find one, check the seller, the returns window and who would honour a warranty.
  • Beware lookalikes sold under the EMO name. At least one cheap listing uses a different face screen and has no skateboard dock. It is not Living.ai EMO. We are not linking it.

The only prices this page prints for the real robot are those US dollar figures, dated 25 October 2026.

Amazon UK alternatives to EMO

These five were buyable on Amazon UK on 25 October 2026. A lead time of a few days still counts as buyable. None of them is EMO.

1. LOOI Robot, Starlight White: closest desk companion on Amazon UK

LOOI Starlight White desk robot that uses your phone as its face

Age range: No minimum age in the listing. Teens and adults. Developmental fit: A desk character for someone who already uses a smartphone. Not a first robot for a young child. Safety notes: The base drives and can fall off glass or dark desks. A lipped tray matters, because the phone can smash. Do not crush the battery. The manual asks for charging at or below 25°C. Parental involvement: High. An adult supplies the phone (iOS 17 or later, iPhone 12 or newer recommended, or Android 12 or later) and the camera permission. Privacy: The phone is the screen, camera, microphone and network. Listing chat is English and Chinese only, with memory. Detail is in the LOOI robot review.

Seller: UKZEZSTORE. The listing adds gesture tracking and up to 10W wireless charging.

Pros: Nearest Amazon UK match for a talking desk pet. The phone does the computing. Dispatch window is stated, so it is orderable. Cons: 3 to 4 days, not immediate stock. Phone not included. Camera, microphone and cloud chat are the product.

£258.22 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). Check LOOI on Amazon UK

2. Anki Vector: roaming desk robot with a camera

Anki Vector desk robot with an OLED face

Age range: Listing ages are unreliable. Treat it as 8+ and, realistically, a teen or adult gadget. Developmental fit: It drives, recognises faces and talks. Setup is fiddly for a child alone. Safety notes: Small parts. Edge detection is claimed and falls still happen. Use a tray. Seller: Anki llc. Parental involvement: High. Wi-Fi, an account, and a read of any plan the live listing requires. Privacy: HD camera and an always-listening microphone. Not for a bedroom. More is in the Anki Vector review.

The listing adds autonomous driving, ChatGPT and more than one language. A line on the page points at a plan for the fuller voice features. No monthly fee was stated cleanly on 25 October 2026, so none is printed here.

Pros: In stock at £189.99. It roams the desk. The listing claims ChatGPT and several languages. Cons: Camera and always-on mic. Check the live page for a subscription. Support depends on whoever still runs the servers.

£189.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check Vector on Amazon UK

3. Enabot EBO Mini: a home camera that rolls

Enabot EBO Mini rolling home camera robot

Age range: Not stated. Adult-controlled home monitoring. Developmental fit: A way to look in on a room, not a character to bond with. Safety notes: Wheels, camera and auto-recharge. Keep it away from small children and say when it is driving. Parental involvement: An adult owns the EBO HOME app. Children do not get the controls. Privacy: 2K camera, two-way talk, night vision and Wi-Fi. It sees more than a fixed camera because it changes rooms. No bedrooms, shared access agreed, and a rule for when it is online.

Sold by Enabot Official Store. It checks a room. It does not replace a face on a desk.

Pros: In stock at £149.99 from the brand store. Night vision and auto-recharge are in the listing. Cons: A camera robot, not a desk pet. Two-way video needs a privacy conversation. No stated age.

£149.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). In stock. Check the EBO Mini on Amazon UK

4. Enabot ROLA Mini: rolling pet camera, limited stock

Enabot ROLA Mini pet companion robot

Age range: Not stated. Adult-controlled. Developmental fit: Checking on a pet, not a toy for a child. Safety notes: Tumbler body, obstacles up to 10 mm, slopes up to 15 degrees, and it can still jam on cables. Sold by Amazon. Only 9 left. Parental involvement: An adult sets the ROLA app and any cruise schedule. Privacy: Motion alerts, recording and two-way audio. The listing claims a 5,000 mAh battery and up to 25 days of normal use. Same rules as any indoor camera.

The API brand field reads "what the pet" while the title says Enabot ROLA Mini. Confirm both on the live page.

Pros: Sold by Amazon. Self-righting body and a long battery claim. Motion alerts are explicit. Cons: Only 9 left. Camera, mic and an app. Brand field and title disagree, so read the page.

£150.00 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). Only 9 left in stock. Check ROLA Mini on Amazon UK

5. Anki Cozmo: older character robot, one left

Anki Cozmo robot for ages 8 and up

Age range: 8 to 99, as the listing title writes it. Developmental fit: Games and explorer mode for an older child or an adult. Not a current chatbot. Safety notes: Only 1 left, sold by Gamecentral. Old app-dependent robots fail when the app changes. Confirm it still connects before you treat scarce stock as a gift. Parental involvement: An adult installs the app and checks the link before wrapping. Privacy: Camera play was part of Cozmo. Read the current permissions. Treat box promises as historical.

Pros: An 8+ age is printed. Games are the actual pitch. Cons: One left, third-party seller, older app, not the wake-word desk pet in the EMO search.

£109.99 (price correct as of 25 October 2026). Only 1 left in stock. Check Cozmo on Amazon UK

Energize Lab Eilik is the other desk robot people compare with EMO. On 25 October 2026 the Eilik ASINs used elsewhere on this site did not resolve in the Creators API, so this page does not link an Eilik buy button. Background is in the Eilik review. The wider set of robot pets is in best AI robot pets UK 2026.

Pros and cons of EMO

Pros

  • Living.ai documents a large set of expressions, face recognition and a wake phrase
  • Edge sensing and a small body suit a desk rather than a floor
  • Go Home adds self-return charging if you want it to wander
  • The official store is a plain, identifiable place to buy the real robot
  • Firmware updates are part of the product story

Cons

  • No official Amazon UK listing on 25 October 2026, so no Amazon return on the real EMO
  • Price is in US dollars, with overseas shipping and possible import VAT and duty
  • Camera, wake-word microphone, Wi-Fi and an app account
  • No published children's age; easy to knock off a cluttered desk
  • Lookalike and unbranded listings make the search results confusing

Frequently asked questions

Is EMO worth it in the UK?

Only if you specifically want Living.ai's robot and you accept a US dollar price, overseas shipping and possible import charges. If you want a desk companion you can return through Amazon UK, start with LOOI or Vector above.

Is EMO on Amazon UK?

Not as an official Living.ai listing, on the 25 October 2026 Creators API check. Unbranded and lookalike listings exist. We do not link them and we do not call them EMO.

Does EMO need Wi-Fi?

Yes for the app, face recognition sync, questions, weather and firmware updates. Treat it as a connected gadget, not an offline toy.

Is EMO suitable for children?

Living.ai does not publish a children's age. We would not hand it to a young child. Teens can use it with an adult account. The camera and wake word are the reasons.

How does EMO compare with Vector?

Vector was in stock on Amazon UK at £189.99 and drives itself around the desk. EMO's official channel is Living.ai's store. Both have a camera and a microphone. See the Vector review and the LOOI review.
